It not going to appear until you are low then a light will come on cluster with 4 bars then will go down until no bars then no gas.

Do those bars go away individually after they all start blinking, because I get nervous everytime I run on reserve for a while. I've never rode on reserve long enough to find out if they individually go away after all four are blinking for a while.

Yes they go away 1 at a time but they move quick.

yep, first one will begin to blink and fade away after a few minutes, then your down to 3, once the last one is blinking you need gas ASAP!! Since the bike is fuel injected, the reserve tank automatically kicks on, so seeing no bars is a good thing, means you got some gas.

you got less than 1 gal of gas when the bars come on and they do go quick!

Check your tripometer whenever your gas light comes on. Then after a few times of it happening you can expect a certain average mileage per tank. For my bike example around 130 miles I am on the lookout for a gast station even if the bars have not come on yet.
