Frame Slider Question...
Aright so I just purchased a '04 F4I with 1300 miles on it, in show-room condition. I was talking to the dealer and we were talking about putting frame sliders on. My question is how hard would this be to do myself. He was saying they have to drill through the fairing. Has anyone done this by themselves or would you just recommend I have the dealership do it for me. I think he said it would be around $160 to put em on and that includes labor.

RE: Frame Slider Question...
you can do it yourself, it is not hard, here is the how to thread

if you use the laser pointer method, be sure to have the light exactly perpindicular to the bike, otherwise your hole will be slightly off.
I didnt realize I had my light at a slight angle to the bike, and mine hole came out off a center a bit becuase of the distance the actual fairing is from the bolt.
But, a couple of computer desk grommets cleaned it up real nice.

RE: Frame Slider Question...
I originally had bolt ons, the P.O had put them on. They bases were billet aluminum that clamped around the frame. I thought they looked extremely sturdy.
but they snapped off first time they hit the ground, and tore my fairing in the process, and scratched the crap out of my frame. had to get new frame sliders, new plasitc, and sand and repaint that section of the frame. this time around I went with the vortex.
