Forks bent/twisted?
so when i got my bike it was crashed the guy said he hit a car parked in his driveway while he was pullin in. the headlight fairing and upper stay bracket needed to be replaced. so anyway today i was ridding and started to get on it thru some turns. it seemed like if i was leaning into a turn either way but lets say its a right turn it seemed like i would be pushing on the right bar and pulling on the left almost as if i was making a left turn. this is my first sport bike and i didnt have time to get on the cruiser i have and see if it was the same thing just something i thought felt wierd. btw i went in a straight line and let go of the bars and it stayed straight. anyone think thier bent or is it just in my mind? haha thanks

All motorcycles are controlled by counter-steering. So that is not odd, just the first time you have been consiously aware of what you were doing all along.
As far as how to tell if bent, if a visual check with the markI eyeball doesn't tell you, the only way (I know)to be sure is to dis-assemble the tubes and check the inside tubes with a dial micrometer. |
