Fork seal issues

I've changed the seal in my left fork a couple of times now and I can't get it to seal for the life of me. Wondering if it might have something to do with not having replaced the slider bushing. If so does anyone know where I can order it? If not does anyone have any ideas on why It's still leaking?

Couple of possibilitys come to mind, Check the tube for burrs (from a rock, etc.). If the tube is damaged, it could be ripping your seals.

Second possibility, how are you seating the seals? They have to go straight in, if the don't it will damage them.

The pros use a slider hammer, $50-$90 bucks. Still if ya do it all the time. :-)

Us regular folks, we take a piece of 2" hvy schedule PVC, square the end and split the end into about 8 segments. Then we grab a hose clamp, wrap it around the end and slide it over the tube. Crank the clamp till the pvc crushes to the dia of the tube. Take a wood block and hammer the end of the pipe (you did cut it to length longer than the inner fork tube, right?).

Works perfect and cost about 4-5 bucks (if you don't already have the pieces laying around).

Other than those 2 possibilitys, I'm stumped.

The tube is fine. I'll try re seating it before I do anything else. My seal driver of choice (sp piece of 2 inch exhaust pipe I had at the shop) wasn't long enough so hitting it on the sides with a rubber mallet may not have it fully seated...

I tried. :icon_shrug:
