Default Fork Oil on Fork ?

the other day i was sticking my hand under the front fairing trying to get a screw out and when my hand rubbed against the left form i felt some oil on the back of my hand. i looked straight down the fork and it didnt look like the seal was saturated with oil. it looked just like the right one. when i touched the right fork it was dry and the left one is barely wet. I had the forks rebuilt last july-august and i havent noticed anything wrong. i dont ride agressive and i dont stunt. Is my seal busted? if so, why would it have busted when i dont ride agressive or stunt my bike?

could be a leaking seal. when you had them rebuilt, did you use OE seals, or another manufacturer. non-OE seals arre notorious for leaking. pot holes and fat hoes could do it as well

You wont see a large puddle of oil unless you have major problems. but the things you are describing do sound like a leaking seal.

If you're willing to invest a little bit-o-$$ for the right tools fork seals/bushings are not that difficult. Neatness counts ... so it is important to have a clean place to do the deed.

I always change the bushings when replacing the seals. Some say it is not necessary but I hate doing things over if the old bushings were worse off than they looked Have almost 20K miles on the last set I did ...

But from what you are describing I don't see an immediate need to do anything. If you start seeing more than just a thin coating of oil then maybe take it in or get her done yerself ...
