axsys, thanks again for the info. And to anyone else who might stumble onto this tread, the flasher relay is indeed in the same spot for the 2006 model year f4i... I just successfully installed today!!

Hey guys, I got a couple of questions about this thing. Where did you get your new relay? What is it called? And are there a certain size I should look for? Thanks...

I got this one, worked fine. Seller still has ridiculous shipping charges, though...

Did you have to splice? Or does it plug right in?

Default RE: Flasher relay

hey so i got the led intergrated tails and installed it. turn signals with the supplied resistors..

i also got the led flushmounts. now i want to do the resistor mod so that i have parking lights and blinkers with out the constant dash light.

my question is will the resistors slow down the blink rate or do the resistors just get rid of the dash lights and do i need a flasher relay...
which on do i get if i need it

i looked on various post and the all said different diodes and different resistors

so do i get 4 of in5400 diodes
or 4 of Diodes(1N4001-1N4007)

thanks
Paul

Go with the $20 relay from e-Bay. That will slow down the flash rate and is plug & play (super easy). I just did it on my bike. Don’t mess with resistors.
A diode will keep the light off your dash bymaintaining electricity flowing in one directionwhen you combine both positive wires.
Here’s a link for that light mod. If you fry your ECU in the process, you can blame redzintimidator. Lol

EDIT:
Sorry I should explain. A resistor causes resistance, thus it fools the stock flasher relay into believing there’s an incandescent bulb there, rather than a LED, so you get the slow flash rate. A diode is basically a one way valve for electricity. A flasher relay controlsALL the turn signals. Thus if you want to regulate the flash rate on your bike, it would make more sense to install one relay vs. four resistors.
