Default Fixing scratches in a ferring?

I dropped my bike on its side after sliding out on some gravel and got some good scratches on the right ferring. Is it worth the time and effort to try and smooth them out myself and if there is does someone know a good way to do it? I understand that I may need to have it painted after sanding and buy the honda decal if I want it to match the other side, but I'm thinking about just buying a new one. Any thoughts?

check ebay. I found a left lower a few months ago for mine for $85, only thing wrong with it is a corner is trimed off one of the decals lol. Or just touch them up a lil so they dont stick out do bad. They add character yanno.

Cover the marks with a vinyl overlay.... I know a couple of guys that did that and if you choose a custom overlay that you like and put it over it, then you win both ways.
