Actually it's my mama that's super overprotective. I don't think he'd mind too much, but she rubbed off on him a bit. Sooner or later his wife would find out and go ballistic.

It took a while to convince my Mom to let me get a bike. I was 19 at the time and I wanted my parents blessing. I got it but I also pretty much showed up with the bike on a trailer at 11 PM and was like hey look what I got! On the plus side my Mom bought me full leathers and race boots.

The only thing my wife never complained about was how much money I spent on the bike/riding gear. I just make sure that I can justify everything I do as making the bike/riding "safer". As long as you aren't a bonehead, I see no reason for your parents to not be supportive... however if you were the type of kid that jumped off the roof and played in traffic for fun (like me) they may be justified!

Yeah it took my mom a while to accept it. I never told her i bought it then one day she came home while it was in the driveway as i was about to leave for work and she asked why it was there and i was like oh....yeah....about that.....its mine. She laughed and was like yeah ok then i got on it and put my helmet on and she asked what i was doing and i told her i was serious and that i was going to work. She started yelling at me to get off of it but i was just like yeaaaah thats not happening and rode off. My dad used to ride a kawi when he was younger and he knew ive always wanted a bike since i was like 12 but hes not around anymore or else hed probably enjoy it too. Definitely a special thing to be able to ride with your dad so consider yourself lucky sir.
