First bike, so I have questions....

I have a 2001 f4i, it has 12k miles. it runs like a champ. The only problems im having on it is when i hold a constant trottle at 3k, the bike wants to surge and seems like its almost missing. and it only does it within 500 rpm of 3000. and of course its worse in the lower gears, and i tried it and it also does it in neutrel. i was told by a local shop here that it was proabably bad fuel and run fuel cleaner through is. well im on the second tank of gas and nothing has changed. i did notice it seems to get worse when its hot. i have built cars so i know i can work on the bike, im not not sure where to start. so any advice would be extremly helpful. oh yeah and no lights come on, on the guage pod

and second. i cam accross a good set of wheels and tires of a 98f3, will the fit on my bike? if not what would i have to change??

thanks in advance for any help

1st off, your bike should hardly ever see 3K when riding, that's a bit too low for a bike, normally it would be between 4.5-7K of riding around.
that being said,
inspect your filters and fuel lines, you will need to take the tank off for this so ride around till your almost empty to make your life easier.

you can also check your plugs and wires at the same time.

if you have an O2 sensor, check that as well. but not all bikes have them so it may or may not help.

last, you can look at your cables, sometimes you might nick or kink something and not know it. or the prev owner might have.

good luck

2001s don't have O2 sensors. 04+ have them

Mine does, it's a california bike, I don't know about the euro one's though. OP do you know if your bike is a cali or euro bike?

First off, how old are the plugs? You may have one going bad. Inspect the tubes for oil from the valve cover maybe leaking. Oil in the tubes can cause a miss. One of the coils may be going out as well. If you can determine which cylinder is missing, that would help the tracing.

Small correction - all California models and 06's have O2 sensors. 04 and 05 do not, unless they're from CA.

No.

The F3 is a 160 rear and the F4 is a 180.

They are also heavier, why would you want them to fit?
