Just throwing this out there, I just did the split seat conversion, with all like new or new parts, painted and all (pics are here on the site do a search). I was hoping to gain a little trunk space, however... really not much.. I do still like the seat setup but figured I would post this..

I saw Corbins smuggler trunk which would be perfect for my needs, I would be willing to trade all the parts off my bike ready to bolt on yours for one of these trunks and your old parts that you remove to do the swap..

The trunks are very expensive, but so isn't the swap, and the convenience of everything all in one place, painted (matched perfectly to 06 Tahitian Blue) is priceless..

Let me know if you are interested, your parts would need to be in perfect condition... And I will accept a used smugler trunk that is in perfect condition.

This offer is no longer on the table, I decided to keep the split tail and use a tail bag.

 

The candy tahitian blue is going to be expensive anywhere, the guy who painted my bike said it took 3 very expensive paints to match that color, he is a good friend also so i know he was not bs'ing me.

 

Yup you are right, I have those 3 paints, enough to do another tail... someone has expressed interest in it but hasn't got back to me on my offer..

PPG Uerethane base metallic, candy coat, and clear coat... 3 expensive, good paints. Mine is a perfect color match, I mean perfect in any lighting situation.
