Ok, so the verdict's in.... There's NO part number on the fairing. (scratches head)

The bike has 9k and has fresh oil and filter so i'm told. I best just change it for myself so I know for sure. The seller did tell me that he laid it down and gave me a replacement stator cover that he hadn't put on yet. So I'll be replacing that as well today!

CMAN the bike runs great as far as I can tell. However, I can't help but notice this faint tapping now when the bike is in gear and clutch is disengaged. Any ideas?

What exactly is that fairing from? Cause the photo is of the outside of it, but I don't understand - did you pull a fairing off and strip all the paint and put aluminum foil on it or something? lol

The part numbers won't be on a sticker or anything, they're either engraved or raised up into the plastic itself on the inside of the fairing somewhere. Easy to miss if you don't look for it.

That fairing is from the third planet closest to the sun. The aluminum foil is there to disrupt aliens from manipulating our thoughts!

(it's a pic of the inside of the right fairing) nope, neither engraved or raised up part number in there.

the tapping is most likely the cct. It is the most common cause for buzzing/tapping.
The foil heat tape is tell tell of aftermarket fairings. And the fact the bike was down, he prob bought hong kong fairing to replace the jacked ones. No biggy really. The bike could be still custom painted.Call him and ask where he got done, cause you want flame on the tail and tank to match . See what he says. Or just be done with it and know you still have a good oolking bike.

p.s. the honda oem numbers would be found under the area where the foil is if my memory serves me. I'll check for sure if you like

Hmm... the cct I shall have to check into that a bit further. As for the paint, I think I just might do that. For now, if anyone asks I'll just twitch one shoulder and look at them with a blank stare. After a minute or two I'll then shake my head and say, "I'm sorry did you say something" and quickly divert their attention to the shape of the foot peg. I think it might just work if I practice in the mirror a bit.

Zig Test Zone?

I should have expanded on the cct ( Cam Chain Tensioner) They make noise inherently. Nothing wrong just noisy. Alot of people change it out for a ape manual adjuster. Do a search on the site and there are endless articles about it.

I live with the noise...for now.

they are aftermarket fairings, I have a set of them too. They dont come with the heat shielding foam. There are 3 pieces that fit into the fairing on each side, I think the most expensive being $11, the next like $8 and the last like $7. I tried to pull the foam off the old plastics, to no avail. Its stuck and not going anywhere without making a mess. If the black on the back side of the plastic scratches off and its white underneath they are def not OEM plastics. That plus the new stator cover are pretty good indicators. The only different thing I see is how the CBR sticker is on the lower cowl instead of the upper and how the flames connect. The other guy that has them, his are different than mine as well, his has flames under his CBR sticker on the ram air portion of the upper. Looks like theres some different models of the ebay plastics foating around. Maybe I shoulda went with the blue ones.....all my gear is red though. oh well heres a pic of mine. Its actually a F4. I hit a deer last season and instead of dropping the 1500 for new OEM plastics I just upgraded the look to the F4I.
