Nice article, they are really close in performance.

What country was that magazine from?

Thanks for sharing.

Great read, reassures me that I have no need to "upgrade" to one of the newer 600rr's.

Ahh great read! I love my F4i. Few mods and it runs just as nice as the RR I think. I actually prefer the look of the f4i over the RR any day! Then again if I ever have to replace the f4i, Id probably go with a newer 1000rr but then again I dont want to kill myself lol

Remember that this is from 2003. The new 600RRs are a LOT more bike than the 03-04 600RR. It would certainly be an upgrade to go from an F4i of any year to an 06+ (or even better, 08+) 600RR.

Not necessarily. I upgraded to an 06 600RR recently, It is bone stock with 12k miles. My old faithful F4i with 23k miles went to my wife to ride.

About 2 months after upgrading the wife and I rolled out to our local stunt spot, which is just a road in the middle of nowhere that sits in a valley about 2 miles long. Nobody can see us and nobody bothers us out there.

After arriving and hanging out and doin some poppawheelies...LOL a buddy of mine started talking about me riding a faster bike now, which I actually said that I think the F4i is faster, the 600RR seems to eat up corners a lot easier though. After a couple no ways and what not we lined them up. Me on the F4i and my buddy on my RR. Dead heat drag race and after turning around at the end of the road we did a 2nd gear roll on and in both races the F4i beat the RR. It was a close race and the bikes evened out around 130 but the F4i got to it quicker and the RR just couldn't make up the ground.

We even switched bikes and still the F4i came out on top. Now mind you the RR is stock right down to the air filter and exhaust, and the F4i has got just about everything done to it. Full MIG exhaust, pc2, clean air mod, and K&N air filter. But it is on stock gearing.

But with all that said I wouldn't give up the RR for anything just for the handling of her. And once I get the RR upgraded then it will probably beat the F4i at that point.

the brakes on the first rr's were the same, maybe the forks? but if u get an 07+ rr the weight an suspension difference will be noticeable
