F4i phantom knock
 

Hi guys my f4i has just started to make a very strange knock and I don't know where it's coming from.

It only happens at idle when you blip the throttle. Once you blip the throttle you can hear a single loud knock coming from the lower clutch area.

I have had the valves clearances checked, I also have a correctly adjusted manual CCT. My mechanic said it was the clutch basket, that looked in good condition, the damper springs were loose so we shimmed them and welded the basket back together.

After all this, the noise is still there, it rides well and has good power and I don't believe it to be bad bearings because it's not a constant noise.

As I said the noise only happens when it's warm and you blip the throttle quickly, you can hear a single knock.

Any ideas what I should check next?

Hi does this only happen at idle and when in neutral , or can it happen when in gear and the clutch oprerated

It happens at idle with and without the clutch operated. I haven't tried with a great selected yet
