F4i engine radiating heat

My 05 f4i was getting super hot from the engine area however the temperature on the temperature gauge was completely normal. Rode the bike it suddenly stopped. Was radiating heat from the engine yet on the gauge it showed normal temperatures. Started it up again and rode further and it stopped again this time it shut the f1 light completely went away and the engine refuses to start. Any help shall be appreciated.

So are you saying the FI light came on the first time it stopped since it went off completely the second time the bike died? Does the bike crank at all or completely dead? Battery ok?

Just curious what your coolant levels are?

they tend to do that. sometimes it feels like you're sitting on a furnace. if your temperature gauge is normal, then it's not too hot, true engine temperature is reflected in your coolant temp.

the only exception i can think is if the heat was from a serious electrical short which has now melted something, but that'd have to be a hell of a short, you'd smell smoke, but perhaps look at your battery, maybe it had a meltdown?

your bike not starting now is probably totally unrelated to the heat you felt
