f4i engine in a f4

does anyone know if a f4i engine will fit directly in a f4 w/o modification. Also, does anyone know if the carbs from a f4 will bolt right up to a f4i engine. Thanks, Matt

im not super knowledgable about the mechanical side but im pretty sure all f4is are fuel injected so i wouldnt think the carbs would do you any good. hope that helps.

I just did the conversion that your inquiring about. An F4i engine has the same design as the f4. The f4i has a camshaft position sensor in the head as well as a slightly hotter cam and heavier valve springs. To do the fuel injection after the experience I had I would say its not worth it. But yes the carbs will bolt onto the motor.

carbs on a fuel injescted motor? It would never run right ....you neeed to change the full wireing harness, carbs for throttles and everything....will bolt right up..same frame

to do the full conversion is a lot of work the radiator, both handlebar controls, throttle cables and the tank are all different. then if you do not do the two piece conversion the harness that you would need to use would have to be from an 04-06 model. There is no where to put the ecm in the one piece tail with out cutting and splicing wires.
