F4i Coolant and heat question
Hey Guys,
Its been quite hot here recently and ive been stuck in alot of traffic so my bikes been getting a bit warm, i think the other day it hit 105 deg celcius. Now for the past week just sitting at a traffic light it gets up to 90 deg. I am presuming i just need to put more coolant in. My question is what is an average temp* for the bike to run at and how often should i be topping up my cooland * found this answer on another thread. Thanks |
Once your coolant and filled and properly bled, you don't need to touch it until your next coolant flush in a few years.

I should've been more specific and stated every Couple Years, as in 2 years.
Everyone puts different miles on their rides and in different riding conditions but most are under 8k per year. Yes everyone should follow their manual (to a degree) but changing your coolant out every year is unnecessary. And as for the manual, it says to change oil every 8k miles after the initial change. not in my bike.... Attachment 43000 |
that schedule says to inspect it every 8,000 miles and to replace it every 24,000 miles...
not in my bike either. |
As a year-round rider (many K's of miles), I replace coolant at least once a yr (Honda HP 50/50 blend). That's generally a good rule-of-thumb for a year-round rider. If the bike goes to the track, the Honda HP 50/50 gets swapped for WaterWetter for track use. However, I have gone several summer months on WaterWetter w/ equally good results as the Honda HP. Of course, cooler climates/times of yr would benefit from Honda HP's expanded operating temp range.

Bikes are air cooled. They will get hotter when standing still. The temps you are experiencing are normal.

Cool Thanks for the advice.
Maybe im just been paranoid about the temp. This is my first bike with a digital read out of the temp so maybe im monitoring it to pro-actively. I love this bike so i tend to worry the minute somthing seems out of place. |
