Exhaust without canister

Any with experience taking a ride only with the middle pipe alone, without a rear canister.

Possible damage to the engine or only much loud ?

Thanks in advance

RE: Exhaust without canister

its definitely not good for the engine, it needs backpressure

I would not run it that way but the header and mid pipe make enouf back pressure. It just frees up the exhaust alot and the bike won't run the best.

No reason to. A proper exhuast cases so little extra packpressure.

That it will cause damage to the engine is a urban myth. I really wish Mythbusters would do that one. As long as you properly adjust your air/fuel mixture you could run open headers without damage. You probably won't see any gains because the rest of the motor (cams, intake/exhaust runners etc) were not tuned to run open headers.

And for the record, it isn't backpressure the engine needs, it's exhaust gas velocity. Backperssure = bad, Velociy = good. ;)
