Exhaust Springs

I see some aftermarket slip-on exhausts with one or two springs attached to the inlet. WTF? Why would it need springs? To hold it on?! To allow for flex?!

really?
I dident know they were for flex.
I thought they held the un-used emission regulator thing-ama-gig for the California model motorbikes.

The muffler and midpipes are slip-fit, so the springs hold it together. It does allow for more flex than using bolts or a clamp would.

Ahhhh. I see. I thought a slip on was still welded or bolted on. I'm retarded.
