whats the hottest you guys have had your f4i run mine is running at 227 degrees just curius if thats normal.

227?? Describe more Is that when you are just driving down the road or in traffic or stopped? On average just riding down the road I run in the high 170s or low 180s. The hightest I've had Is a little over 220 but that was when I was stuck at a red light for a bit.

 

Yes, sitting at a red light and hitting 227 is normal. If i'm not mistaken, you shouldn't start to worry until 240. 50mph+ on open road i'm right around 177, but if i'm stuck in traffic or sitting at red lights its anywhere from high 180's-230

 

yea sounds right.. 177 cruising nice fan kicks in at 224 when sitting at a light for a while. i think ive seen 227

 

At 254, it stops rising and starts blinking, along with a red idiot-light that blinks on the gauge.



Happened to me once...radiator fan was broken.

 

i would get up to about 227 when im out racing, i will do allot of stop and goes.

 

229-331 will be about as hot as she'll get under normal conditions. she's perfectly happy at those temperatures, despite what everyone says. You can have her idle in 110 degree heat all day long and she'll be just fine. The engine temperature really doesn't have much to do with the outside temperature as much as it has to do with airflow around the radiator. My bike has hit 229F idleingin the winter at 20F outside.Highway speed temperature varies. In the winter when it's around 25 or 30 degrees outside, she will hover around the 165F-170F mark on the highway. In the summer when it's 90+ degrees out, she will hover between 170F-180F.
