engine ice? vs traditional?
What do you guys think? Any drawbacks to using engine ice over traditional coolant? Engine ice is only a few bucks more to go that route so

no that would be something like water wetter. I think engine ice can be slippery. Many have said that it lowered their temps like 10 degrees which is worth it for a few more bucks instead of traditonal. BUT are their any drawbacks. What are the cons of engine ice if any? Or any reasons not to use it?? ________ KarinaLYNX |
I think the biggest benefit of Engine Ice is that it's much less toxic than regular ethylene glycol. It has diluted propylene glycol instead(Evans coolants are the same stuff with no water). I don't see how it could function noticeably better than the proper blend of diluted EG, but it probably isn't any worse either.

I am not an expert. That would be a good subject to look up but I am pretty sure in the Motocross scene all the guys we rode with run Engine Ice in there bikes... "lower engine temps"?? in turn "sustained HP"?? True maybe??

I have it in my 954, slightly cooler (177 v 182 normal cruising temps). Less toxic if I spill some or overflows and the dog is around. Less slippery if I overflow and someone on a bike runs through it.
Like F4iMaine said, I use Water Watter in the race bike, but some trackday orgs allow Engine Ice (some allow regular antifreeze). |
