Electrical short under gas tank causing smoke...

Default Electrical short under gas tank causing smoke...

was removing the gas tank for some body repairs and while pulling the return line somehow the tank shorted on the subframe and smoke was a riseing!!! i freaked pulled the tank up put it into its stock postion and pulled the bat cable....should of done this first i know.... so i figured the worst the pump is fried. yet i pluged it in turned the key and fuel shot out WOOHOO right? idk im freaked should i look elsewere for a issue did i just get lucky...? just need input thx u

Look for burned wires. The smoke is the insulation burning from getting super hot. Once the insulation is gone, you risk it shorting out and causing bigger problems.

i striped the wire covering from the wires and found the green wire had a pin sized black hole with a burn mark few... i think i got lucky need a new pair of undies lol but i think the bikes fine lesson learned
