Default Electrical Problem, nothing works.

I went on vacation for a month and I left my 01 Honda Cbr600f4i standing in the garage. In the meantime the battery drained out. I went to start it, the clock was working like it always does but I turned the key and the lights tried to turn on but soon killed the battery. So I went to jump start it, the previous owner had a pair of jumper cables connected straight to the battery, nice little feature when they are properly connected, but it wasn't the case with my bike, he had the black cable connected to the positive and the red cable to the negative. I didn't check which was my dumb mistake , but as soon as I connected those cables to the car battery the clock went off immediately, I tracked the cables and found out they were connected the wrong way so I reversed them but it was too late I couldn't bring my bike back to life. I really hope I didn't kill my ECU but the main fuse is not fried, none of the fuses are blown for that matter. I'm thinking it could be the main relay, I'm just really keeping my hopes up that it's not the ECU. The bike has 13,500 miles on it, it was working fine until I came back from my vacation. If anyone can help me out, cuz I'm not taking my bike to the stealership, I'm good with cars but I've never worked on bikes before except for regular maintenance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You all in advance,

Dave

Have you tried replacing your battery? seems you zapped it. That's the only real harm that I can see this caused.

I have at least half of my bike taken apart, but I can't troubleshoot the problem. I charged my old battery i was getting around 13 volts with it. When I connected it to the bike nothing even budged. Does anyone have a schematic or wiring diagram for the 01 honda cbr 600f4i? I'm thinking the power from the car battery fried a ground cable somewhere. This is the first time I took this bike apart so i don't know where all the ground cables connect. Plus the previous owner put a clifford security system on the bike and had a genius idea of using all black wires . Any help would be greatly appreciated, if anybody has a scan image or something like that of a wiring diagram for my bike can you please send it to me if it's not too hard.

Thanks in Advance,

Dave

As long as the car battery was not in the car and the car running, you wont fry anything. Check your fuses. And d/l a manual.

Thanks skoobiedoobie, all the fuses are good I checked them with my multimeter. I'll download the manual, everything should be easier from here. Thanks and I'll keep everyone posted.

I've looked around and I can't find a manual with a wiring diagram in it. i found the honda maintenance manual, but I'm looking for either a clymer or haynes repair manual. If anyone has a link to one I can download without paying for it please post it.

Thanks

David

ok question. the battery was connected the wrong way to the car right? on most cars when that happens fuses blow. you checked fuses, thats good. then you charged the battery? the correct way or did you not notice til after you charged it? You can actually charge a battery opposite if it is completely drained...

The fuse blew on the bike, It took me a total of 6 hours to find the fuse, the one that was by the starter relay in the red cover. I changed it out with a new 30amp fuse. The clock started working, but now I'm not getting anything besides the clock. I turn the key the pump doesn't prime and the lights don't work either. Very confusing. None of the gauges light up either. I tried push starting it without any success. I'll put the battery back on the charger, but if anyone has any idea what these symptoms indicate too please post.

Thanks in Advance,

David

Alright here is the deal. I recharged my battery. My clock works, fuel pump doesn't prime, lights don't work. I don't get any power I think but the clock works. I'm not sure but everything that is wired after the ignition coil does it go through the ecu. Like the fuel pump, bas, head lights etc... I read somewhere that there is a pink wire going from the ignition coil to the ecu, if it doesn't provide 9 volts nothing will work. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank You all in advance,

David
