Default Electrical Issues, Bike not trying to start.

I just finished putting my bike together and went to start it, but alas nothing. I figured that the battery had been sitting for a while and that was the issue. I put the battery on the charger all night and tried it again this morning but still nothing. I have gone through and made sure everything is connected properly and to the best of my knowledge it is.

I know the bike is getting power because the clock is on, however when I turn the key to the on posistion the dash goes blank. When i turn it back to off the clock resets and thr tach needle does a full travel of the indicator and then returns to its resting posistion. I have tried playing around with the handlebar switches and I have noticed that if I touch the turn signal switch I will get the neutral light and the opposite turn signal to illuminate on the dash. I have the tail lights connected as well but they do not turn on when I select them. Another interesting piece to note is that when I play around with the turn signal indicator, my speedo healer flashes.

When I switch the key to the on posistion I do not hear any relay switches being activated. Could my battery be just so dead that it's causing these issues or is there some other issue I'm having? Has anyone had a similar issue or know of a decent way of troubleshooting the issue. Let me know if you have a specific item for me to check out. Thanks in advance for your help.

these symptoms are not typical of a bad battery alone. It sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere. Assuming all your fuses are in order; first, I'd buy a can of electric cleaner and spray it in the ignition key hole and the turn signal hole. Then I would check of any exposed wires or dirty connectors.

If your battery isn't the culprit, it definitely sounds like your grounding out somewhere.
Maybe a blown fuse.
