eBay stator covers
 

My buddy laid his bike down and needs a new stator cover and is a bit strapped for cash so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the eBay stator cover? I can't find an OEM one that's in his price range but some of the eBay ones are. So any info on them would be great.

Id personally stay away from the ebay ones... Whats his price range? I have an OEM one in my garage... has a slight rash on it from previous owner. I replaced since I like the "new" look if a bike... Ill take a picture when im home.

its just slightly rashed... no cracks, bends, or anything...

My guess is his price range is under 50 bucks if possible. PM me a pic and I'll let you know.

Does the stator cover serve any real purpose other than to cover up the stator like its name suggests? What would be the negatives of having a cheap one over an expensive one other than it not holding up as well in the event of a lowside or crash? Is it that important?

Honestly I have no idea. The only thing I am worried about is the fit. I think if you lowside with the stock cover there's a good change it may crack or begin leaking.

The ebay ones will crack on first drop (first hand experience) granted mine was at the track. The OEM will hold up better but if you want something that wont crack as easily, go with Vortex or a name brand cover. so the ebay ones from like delkevic and such (ie the black ones that have 'cbr' on them) actually fit our bike? even though they may crack on first drop?

ill let you know. i bought one to try. cause i had time over the winter. should be here by the 10th.
