eBay replacement tails?

Anyone have any experience with the eBay (likely made in China) replacement tails? My winning red one on my 01 is starting to fade (I'm the original owner) and is cracked at the front bolts. I was going to try restoring it with some fiberglass and paint but figure I'll just buy a new one if the quality/fit finish/match is decent, they average $150 shipped. I'd order it soon so I get it before riding season starts here in the mid-Atlantic again haha.

Thanks,
Eric

If you buy a complete set of aftermarket fairings they usually bolt together well. Trying to fit an oem panel with aftermarket panel is a huge no go, nothing ever lines up correctly. I'd just get the oem one plastic welded and re-painted if I were you.

what do you mean? OP asked about tail.It primarily bolts on the subframe with only plastic screws to attach with the undertray/fender.
How would a single chinese piece be any less reliable than a full kit?
Btw I have one ready to be painted and put on my bike to complete the banana to split seat conversion. The quality is definitely not oem-it has a lot less flex, but for GBP 43 for a new item(got a sweet deal), I can't complain when the stock comes at more than GBP 200 new :)

In more simplified terms, aftermarket quality is total crap and I'd rather fix and use oem.

I recently purchased the winning red rear cowl fairing. The item came from china it took maybe 3 weeks, but it was sold and shipped for a very good price. The packaging was lightly bubbled wrapped (more of a foam cushion) and a large box. I don't know about OEM quality, but what I received was excellent.

I have an entire set of these Chinese fairings. Quality I would say is really good as far as fit. In terms of flexibility ? the OEM are the clear winner but after three seasons on the cheap plastics I have absolutely no complaints. They tend to be cheaply painted though, and being quite a bit more rigid than the OEM they do tend to get paint chips easier. And need to be handled with extra care when putting them on or taking them off since they will rub the paint off pretty easy.

As for the rear plastic, I dont really see where fitment with OEM would be an issue as they dont over lap the side fairings.

I will definitely be going this route again when its time to change them in the future. Unfortunately I bought mine from a local guy that ordered but never used them so I don't know who manufactured them.
