I am taking my platsics in to get painted next week and trying to find the easiest way to empty the fuel without riding it. My next question is what should I do with the sending unit/filter while i have the tank apart at paint?

 

I just had my tank painted. Just siphon the gas out and pull the tank off. Not really a big deal. Just make sure you have the bike upright when you siphon the gas, not on the kickstand. Just so you get all of it out. When you pull the fuel hose off, have some shop rags there cause some gas will come out. And when you put the tank back on, make sure the air vent tube and breather line does not get pinched.

 

+1 on siphon ($3 bucks at Wal-Mart). But keep in mind there will still be a nice amount ofgas in there whenyou remove the fuel pump. Have shop rags and litter handy. I just put my fuel pump in a plastic bag. May also want to clean/replace the fuel filter while it's out. GL

 

i took out my pump and just drained the gas into a gas can

 

syphon... 1 buck at autozone.

 

Drive it till it runs out!!

you should be able to siphon the tank and leave the pump assy. on

 

I just took the tank off and pulled the pump. yuou have to take it off anyway and it is going ot be painted so if you get any on it who cares?
