Default Does this sound funny to you?

Okay, so I don't ride my bike for about a week, and it doesn't start. I take it in to my mechanic, and he checks the charging system and it passes. Battery is replaced, but the tech says that there is a really small drain on the battery when the key is in the off position. I ask about the stater and he says not to worry about it, and just keep the bike on the battery tender when not riding for awhile.

Does this sound weird or am I just paranoid???

If there is a measurable drain on the battery and you don't have any active devices (remote alarm or light kit) you most likely have a wire grounding out.

Does it sound weird? No. Does it sound like your mechanic is either lazy or knows you won't want to pay to trace the drain? Yes.

There is a small amount of current drain on the battery normally. The manual says that it should not be more than 2.0 mA. I did a current leak test on my wife's bike and it's on showing 0.5 mA draw. Remember that you have a digital clock that runs all the time.
