Thanks guys! I'm happy with the results and it was surprisingly easy to do... though it was tedious and time consuming. I started off by drawing up the pattern in a heavy paper (like poster board) then fitting the paper and refining it before transferring the pattern to the sheet metal. PLEASE do not start cutting up sheet metal unless you first have a paper mock up completed that you are happy with. If you go right to metal, you will mess it up and you will be pissed. I'm just saying...

The sneaky part (which you can't see here) is the power trunk release I used to replace the entire key assembly. I did this mostly because I didn't want to figure out how to relocate the key hole. Call me lazy... but now it's a really cool personalization that gets a lot of 'oooohs, and aaahhs'.

krux: Hey man, I'm local... you should come check it out sometime.

nowesnby: I admittedly did a poor job of documenting my project, but I do have the doc I used to walk me through the project. Anyone have a good idea how to host / link to it?

nickp123: That is the stock tail. The photo upload looks like the color is off, but in person it's a match. (Is that why you asked?)

Just remembered that I made a vid of my turn indicators for a different thread, so here's a 'live' look at my fender too.

Please share how you did this... where'd you get the motor, etc?

I ordered a 'universal power trunk release' kit online. I think it cost me 25 bucks shipped.
Like this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VIA-80138/?rtype=10
Then I installed it on the outside of the subframe rail (see pic). I tapped into the license plate light power to run the motor. This way it will only work when the ignition is turned on so someone who knows about the stealth release can't just pop your trunk without you being there.

My first attempt was behind the seat, but that sucked to reach. So I finally put it through the plastic right behind the rear shock res.
