The bike I recently purchased had a dent and some rust on the side of the gas tank. I am pretty certain that the dent is not coming out, but is there any way I can eliminate the rust? Any products you guys recommend? I have attached a pic...as always, thanks guys.

ive heard coke....seriously! on mythbusters they tested phosphoric acid to remove rust and coke as well....coke has that acid in it but they proved coke works better... something to try! good luck!

 

Lol, I have heard that too. Im thinking of that CLR, or whatever it is. Im going to eventually replace the tank once I find a used one with the right color...just wanted a quick fix in the mean time.

 

yea that sounds good just research and make sure it wont eat away at the metal (which would be no good!) i have no experience with it but just saying! lol

 

i wonder if you take the tank off and remove the fuel pump, if you can pound it out a little, from the inside.

 

I was thinking about it, I don't know how bad the rust is inside though. I got someone selling a new tank with same colors for 60 bucks, so I am gonna buy that next time I travel down south.
