Well it finally happened to me. I rode my bike to the bank yesterday and as I walked back to my bike I saw something shiny on the tire. I found a 1" ring shank nail in my tire. This wouldn't bother me so bad if I hadn't just bought the tires. I have 400 miles on them at the most. I know it's not recomended , but I think I will try to get it patched.

 

I would do the same. I just bought a dunlop qualifier, and it's got about 500 miles, if it got a nail I'd patch it for sure. The tire with nail insurance was 300 bucks. Screw that.

 

I know it sucks dude, but don't try to ride that bike indefinitely if you've got a patch in the tire. You should plan on replacing it soon. The problems that you can get from a patch in the tire range from a slow leak, leaving you stranded on a ride somewhere to a full blow out. It's not like a car where you've got three other wheels to stay up on. I've been in this situation myself on a tire that had 600 miles. I patched so I could ride it to a shop to get the tire replaced, but that was it. $250 and a new tire later I was back in business.

 

It really sucks cause I don't really have the extra money to spend on another new tire at this time. I guess I will jsut sit till I can save a little extra. I guess I shoulda planed my finances better. Lol
