Default Crankcase Cover Advice!?

I own a 2001 CBR 600 F4i. To make a long story short I needed to replace the clutch cable on the bike. When I finally installed the new cable there is absolutely no more resistance when I pull the clutch lever. There is also no resistance on the little arm that comes out of the crankcase that engages the clutch. I'm thinking that while I was installing the new cable, I must have jarred something loose? My real delimma now is that I have taken off all the bolts that hold the crankcase cover on, but the thing WILL NOT come off. I've done everything possible. I can't wedge it or anything, and I don't want to break it by pounding on it. What could be keeping that sucker from budging? Also, any advice for getting it off?
Thanks

There's a spring on the outside of the crankcase... if there's no resistance on the little arm then the spring should also not be there...??? post some pics and maybe some guys can help.

The spring is there. It is the only bit of resistance to the lever.
