I pretty much don't use the clutch for shifting up at all. I think it's a trait carried over from riding my KFX400. Some trips I would go on would be so brutal on the wrist, that at the end of the day you can't use the clutch.

I tried up shifting today on my ride w/o using the clutch...it seems like i'm about the break shift lever! It doesn't shift or anything when i push up with my foot. Is there some trick I have to do with the throttle or what?

make sure to put a little pressure on the shift lever with ur foot first and then just blip the throttle, it sounds like u were trying to do it like i was before i read the article in sport rider that told me about preloading the shifter with like 2 lbs of force andit went like butter but if it doenst feel right dont force it it should just slip into gear

Hummm so I gotta blip the throttle right before i shift huh? Well i'll try it, do I have to be above a certain RPM or does it work throughout the whole range?

any rpm. apply pressure, blip throttle and keep pressure applied. it will shift so much faster/smoother.

I was wondering this same thing after reading the article in sport rider. I have been doing it recently, but not all the time, and only 2-6. Its definitely a lot better especially if your riding one handed. You dont have to keep leaning in to shift.
