clutch basket question

So I went to install the factory pro shift star kit, well to remove the clutch basket you gotta play with scissor gears (whats the point of these?)

Anyways I read that you slide the basket out, you gotta stick a 5mm screw driver into the whole on the gear and turn the crank to relieve pressure on the basket so it easily slides out.

Well I was playing with it and got it out so i went through the rest of the install.

Now reinstalling the clutch basket I couldnt get the scissor gears to line up again so i went with the screw driver method again. But I couldnt get them to line up, so I barely (just a hair) turned the crank backwards and the teeth on the gears lined up perfectly, I noticed that the screw driver fell out and the gears stayed lined up so I didnt think of anything and completed my install.

Now my f4i is fully assembled. Thing is, I swear the cam chain sounds like its smacking around in there. Timing is right as I didnt remove the cctl and it runs great! Its just the rattling is HORRIBLE. Its the new style OEM CCTL with only 4k miles on it. I thought it was rattling so I did the longer bolt mod... Didnt notice and noise difference. While sitting low on the ground reving the bike, I swear it sounds like the cam chain is loose.

Question is, could moving the crank backwards to get scissor gears lined up put slack on the wrong side of the cam chain??
