Clear coat ruined paintjob

Hey guys, shortened my brake lever, primed it and put 3 coats of krylon spray paint on it. Looked great. Let it cure until I got home from work lastnight, and I got some rustoleum clear coat. Put two light coats on and it gave my lever a wrinkly texture. Sanded it off and tried again today but this time that texture is all over the lever. I have no clue what to do and am about to just order new levers.

Krylon and Rustoleum do not mix. I know this from many years of graffiti writing. Basically Krylon is water based and Rustoleum is oil based, oil and water.

i have been useing Industrial Protective Coatings & Adhesives, Plastic Coatings, Protective Foam Coatings A.K.A plasti dip for stuff like that.but im not happy about the spray can. the can of dip works better. you need the heavy coats for it to work

I did the same thing to a fuel tank once. The rattle can job came out looking good then once the clear went on it looked like someone put paint remover on it. I ended up going to S&W automotive paints and bought a single stage paint.

I have run into issues with the differing primers to, I try to stay with the same brand for the whole process. I mean they did engineer them to work together. Good luck.

Yeah, I guess I'm just going to sand it all off and restart the process.
