Default Chalk one up for the F4i

3 - 0 in private road drag races tonight against 600s - 600RRs, newer GSX-Rs, other F4i, etc.. Also a couple wins doing some freeway races starting at 60+ against an RR.

It's nice surprising people =) Especially since I have no decals on the bike, so the guys who don't know me had to ask what I ride, lol. In all fairness, there was an 06 GSX-R that probably would've taken me if he raced. Similar mods but custom tune. And 1ks still walk all over me in a straight line, haha.

In case anyone cares, my go-fast bits include -1/+1 520 kit, K&N air filter, Bootleg Pipe, PCIII w/ Two Bros map.

Does it feel any faster than stock?

I can't really judge too well on that because I did most of the mods on down time, so when I rode it again it had been a while and I couldn't compare to how it felt a few hours prior. The sprockets were definitely a noticeable change in torque, though. I'm looking forward to getting it tuned sometime this summer.

You mean -2 in the front, +1 in the back? BIG DIFFERENCE. Plenty of low-end torque, but your gears will be shorter, you'll cruise at higher RPMs, your speedometer will be whack, and your top speed will be like 140.

Good topic for me right now,

If I want to get a little more low end power/acceleration but want to avoid taching to high when on the freeway should I avoid sprocket changes totally? I'd like to go -1/+1 but my stock F4i already hits about 6500 cruising 75-80 mph.

Would staying stock in the front and going up one in the rear even make an acceleration difference?

Probably notgonnanotice muchdifference. If your chain and rear sprocket are fairly new,try popping in a -1 frontsprocket and see how you like it,they only cost $30-$40. Gearing is always a trade off but IMO a -1 front is a pretty reasonable balance.

Throws it off pretty well. Also, you will cruise at a higher RPM. I always catch myself looking to shift one more gear. I added a speedo healer and all is well.
