chain
I do mostly commuting and some trips on weekends. I need a new chain, should i get sprockets as well? I dont want anything expensive, just something that will work and last for a while. I know there are other threads, but i just want a plain jane one.
thanks |
forgot to mention...i have an 06 f4i

New sprockets wont effect wear in any noticeable way, unless you get an aluminum sprocket. It would effect acceleration and top end. Choose your gearing for what you want.

Hahaha, no, what I was saying is that changing gearing wont effect how a chain wears. Sorry.

any specifics on what i should prolly go with?

16/46 525 with 108 links.

Specifics as in brand? Eh, RK is a trusted brand, but any company you go with, the more expensive chains will be made of better materials which will last longer. Cycle Gear's "Orbit" brand is a repackaged name brand, so not a bad option.

If you use Ebay check out the seller Moto-Heaven. I have asked numerous questions and eventually ordered a set of sprockets and a chain. The chain was the cheapest I found anywhere.
They answered all my questions, arrived in 2 days, and even cut my chain. Nothing but a good experience so far...I will hopefully install everything in a few weeks. |
Definitely order as a kit. Or even OEM equipment is perfectly fine if you get it as a set (aftermarket is usually cheaper, though). I wouldn't change your gearing - you don't need it for the type of riding you do. Stick with 16 / 46.
