Default RE: While replacing my cctl...

Confirmed. Should be a screw and crush washer there, that is why it is leaking.

Look here cctl

#8 #13 is what you need.

www.bikebandits.com you can get another one there if you lost yours. Not having that screw in there will make you bike pee oil all over the place.

Default RE: Is it my CCT?

Is the sound there if I just rev it while in neutral? Because I dont hear anything while reving in neutral. I can only hear it while riding.

For those who are looking for an aftermarket, this is what I got and it works great. No problems. For those who know how to use a socket. Here's a write up of how to do it. From start to finish, about an hour and a half.

Wink

It seems that if you dont like the noise get an APE (if you want to adjust yourself) or OEM (if you cant be bothered)
My bike has clocked over 38,000 km and whilst there is a bit of a sound, the dealer reckons its fine, so Im going out to spend the $50 on beer.... sorted

Here's a how-to: LINK. What makes it difficult is the working space; there is none. Make sure you have a magnet before commencing, you'll need it.

Question Do it Yourself Cam Chain Tensioner Lifter (CCTL)

Hey there,
Okay I put a new cct in my F4 last year. It was not the easiest thing but it was not the most difficult thing either.

Today I tried to put a new cct in the F4i and could not find an appropriate tool to make it into the crazy angles to get the thing out let alone put the new one in.

Any ideas guys? How did you do it yourself?
It takes a 5mm allen wrench.

The top bolt is pretty easy to get to; the bottom one is a pain (remove the bottom first). I removed the clutch cable bracket (next to the little arm above the clutch cover) just under the frame and moved the arm out of the way. It's only one bolt, and the clutch cable comes right off of the lifter arm. From there, once removed, you'll have a clear shot of the lower bolt, and at much less of an angle than if using the frame access hole. Get a long extension & universal joint.
EDIT:
Hex socket.
Universal joint.
Rachet extension.
