CBR600f6 ('06/07) 16k service
Hi all,
I bought a CBR600f6 ('07) model 3 months back, at which time it had done 15.5k miles. It had an interim service just before I bought it, and is now at 16.5k miles.
Local Honda dealer has quoted £550 for the 16k service. I wonder if any of you could give me some advice on whether the bike really needs the service now (involves all fluids changed, valve clearance check and adjustment if necessary, spark plug check and change etc), or whether it would be advisable to try it myself.
Thanks a lot

If the service cover new chain/new sprockets/new brake pads/fluids/new air filter/new spark plugs, valve clearance, throttle sync, etc.. it might be a good idea to get all that stuff done altogether so you know the bike is in good shape for a while.
If you are handy, confident of your mechanical skills, those are pretty routeen stuff, easily done with proper tools. Just the vale shims might need to be ordered while the bike sits for a while.

Do it yourself. Skip the valve check unless the bike has been hammered on and wait for 32k to check. Bleeding the brake fluid is simple and changing the coolant is even more simple. Spark plugs are a change item by 16k, don't bother checking them. Air filter should have been done a couple thousand ago, do that too if it wasn't.

in cars, those plugs last 70k miles?? but considering our bikes rev so high it just tears through them. im assuming lower revs will get you more life.
try not to pay much over 10 dollars per plug though, a dealer wanted to charge me 18 dollars per.
so depending on how you ride, i would go 15k miles and replace them. its not hard. you just need the right tools,
socket extensions and swivel adapters and some sticky stuff at the end of your socket to pull the plug after you unscrew it.
if you take it in for valves tell them to call you after they check it is a whole lot more work to adjust them than to check. adding alot of money to the quote to just check
