Hey guys!

Your advice on brakes is needed.

I've decided to make an upgrade on my cbr600f4i (2002).
The main idea is 330mm brake rotors (from cbr954rr) on my stock wheel,fork and brake calipers.

Therefore, I have some questions:
1) as I see the brake rotor will fit on my wheel (Right?)
2) Does anyone know kind of adapters on ebay for stock calipers to fit 330mm? or maybe full scale drawing of adapters for custom made?
3) I've got computational model. I'd like to calculate proper Master Cylinder bore size... Calculating MC bore size - is not a problem.... But calclating overall leverage ratio is really pain in @..s Does anyone know the database/tables/sources to collect numbers?

 

This is A LOT of work for little gain. Just put some good pads like Vesrah's on and you'll be stopping just fine. A good example of a bad pad that everyone uses is EBC's standard HH's, they are crap. Nobody makes adapters to do this because its not worth the time for the return.

ahhh gross it hurts my eyes! lol yes those are them. Probably the most popular pad out there as far as sales go. Don't know a single person who brakes well and likes them though. Newbs always think they are fine because they don't know better yet.

 

Ah, damn! I put those on just a couple hundred miles ago because I still had the stock pads that were feeling quite wooden. They felt better at first but after a bit I thought "These don't really feel that much better than stock." Thought it just might have been me so, in that sense, I'm glad to hear but sucks that I just wasted a small chunk of $$$. I'll probably just go with them for now...

lol. They will work fine, just don't give feedback. Don't know how they perform on the track though.

 

Based on my one and only track day so far, they initially seemed fairly linear at high speeds although not particularly strong. At low (aka street legal) speeds they seem to go from "slight" to "whoah!" with no in between. I will plan on picking up the Vesrah pads before I go to the track again!

 

Bingo. Brakes, who needs them; they only slow you down.

02 model have 16-17 year old brake lines, likely expand quite a bit under demanding track conditions.

Pads, brake fluids, brake lines are the first I would replace, in that order... with your bike's age, probably just replace the lines along with fluids.

If they still lack feedback, probably just rebuild the calipers, since the piston seals are probably shot due to age, too.
