Default Can an un-tuned powercommander decrease gas milege?

Hi all,

I have a 2002 CBR F4i with akropovic full pipe and K&N filter. The bike came with them and also a power commander that still has a stock map on it. Seller told me that he never bothered to tune it but my question is can this affect my gas milege by alot? Anything else it may affect?

On a full tank of gas, I go about 100miles then the Reserve bar comes on...should I be getting better mpg?

Thanks!

100 Miles? Maybe if you're in an AMA race... That's like 28MPG. Almost Worse than my car.

The Power Commander with an unknown map in it can definitely affect mileage adversely.

+1

Find a buddy with a laptop and download the software to remap. Or you could be like me and move your desktop into the garage [:@]

Expect to always have worse mileage than stock with atuned bike/PC, they tend toenrich the mix. It is the cost of running smoother with a little more power. My bike is 100% stock and I get 140-150 before reserve comes on so I would guess you have a few little things to track down. Good luck and I hope it is just an easy map issue but it sounds like something else too. Are the sprockets stock? How many miles? did the bike sit for a long time, maybe it is the FPR. The list is endless.

Bike never sat around as far as I know...

Sprocket is changed out, I'm trying to figure out which setup it is. So that could be it as well as untuned powercommander. Bike has 18,xxx miles

I get the same with a power commander. Closer to 150-160. Then again I ride my bike like old people fu<k

if its been regeared that will throw off your mileage also. But a untuned pc will effect gas mileage.

Im with FLYOU, mine tuned gets a easy 150-160 before reserve. worse ive ever gotten is 130 before reserve.

get it dyno tuned will make a night and day difference esp in the lower throttle range.. Bike is like a completely different bike with a tune.

Well i have my pc3 with the basemap i usually get between 120-130 sometimes 100 before the reserve goes on. so it sounds normal when i first got my bike i was getting 100miles a tank too. Just ride it out a little
