Don't know for sure, but I'd be little leery of trying it. Can't speak concerning all models but on my F3, the gaskets are not flat. I'd be afraid of the silicone getting into the engine.

No, you can't. There are no RTV's made that can withstand that much all out temp along with the massive temp changes.

RTV sealant is a terrible idea.

Go to pretty much any brand motorcycle dealer and ask for 43 mm exhaust gaskets. Size is common on Honda and Kwaks, probably other jap brands too. Not sure about fagchops.

Big ole +1. Besides, you have pulsing that could bring some of the excess back into the ports after it breaks off from the heat.

Don't do it!!!

Hey, I'm glad you just pointed that out. I think I've just swallowed a tonsil.
Fagchops!!! That's amazingly excellent. Best thing I've heard in a very long time.... then he tells us its Harley. Bugger, there goes the other tonsil..... man I'm crying.....
When I've stopped laughing I'm going to have to ask where that came from.... ah man, frigging priceless!

Sorry, to answer the question, asbestos string is a great get out of jail card.
You could also try code 4 or 5 lead cut into 5mm wide strips. Fit around the exhaust port and when the header pipe is squeezed on it will seal pretty well. Seriously, this does work.
Don't use silicon though. It will fail within minutes.

Fagchops......

Donny,
you're going to have to explain this.
Sorry to hijack your thread Raven but this is like mega important.
How did Harley ever become Fagchops? I've got to know.
All day I've been bursting into fits of laughter thinking about it. People must have thought I was deranged. Not far wrong I know but your word should be put into common use ASAP as far as I'm concerned. I'll never be able to look at another Harley without pissing myself. God help me if I ever own one. It'll need a commode seat installed.
Fagchops... it's too f**king funny man. In fact I don't even care if you remain silent. It shall remain in my vocab for ever!
