caliper problems, im stuck...
 

ok, so my bike was working just fine before all this, as far as i remeber right, i put new pads in and of course pushed the pistons back on the calipers(front) and when i put them on and pump the brake lever to get them seated right they do not go to the right place, and they rub my rotor, it makes it hard to move the bike.



r my calipers bad? has anyone run into this before? ive done the caliper pushing back 3 times now to try to get them seated right, i dont know whats up. im about to drain the brake fluid and put ss lines on but now im wondering if i need new calipers or if im just missing something

Sounds to be like one of 2 things. Either the slider pins are dirty or corroded but that would probably have been noticable before pad change or there is dirt or corrosion on the pistons. When you have worn pads the pistons sit further out of the caliper than when you have new pads. While the olds pads were on and pistons sitting out further some dirt or corrosion could have made its way onto the outside of the piston and then when you pushed the pistons back in for the new pads the dirty or corroded area moved inside the caliper. This piston can catch on this dirt or corrosion and cause the piston to stick out instead of freely moving back in. My old vfr had that issue when I did the pads, pulled the pistons out and cleaned everything off very well with brake cleaner and lubricated everything. Worked like a charm after that. Just be sure not to get cleaner or grease onto your pads as it will make them glazed over.

What exactly is the right place? After pusing the pistons in you put the new pads on, install the calipers and hit the lever once or twice to push the pads againts the rotor. The pads will always rub the rotor and make scratching/grinding noises, thats normal.
Are you saying the caliper pistons are sticking and not letting off pressure to release the rotor?

the right place as in only one side is moving, the other side is not, so its not doing the normal rubbing its tweaked and catching a little bit, im gonna try pulling the pistons out a little more and cleaning them and draining all the fluid insdie and try flushing it out. ill try to upload a pic here soon to show u what i mean
