Default Cali Pothole

Cruisin down the road and out of nowhere a Giant Pothole directly in front of me, nowhere to hide. I nail it, thinking it would destroy my new Pirelli. I stop the Bike and have a quick look/listen and it all looked OK so off I went. Today I noticed the front rim is bent on both sides from this impact.

Now Im looking for replacement or repair options. ANyone have any good suggestions?

Well it's good to hear that you are doing good and didn't dump the bike. There was a thread on here a couple months back where the guy hit a pot hole and totaled the bike. You might be able to have the rim bent back but I am not sure of who you could contact for that. I would search Ebay for a new rim. Sorry man.

....... How bad is the bend?? ... I'm guessing not that bad since you didn't notice it on the first inspection ....

If it's not that bad you could bend it back with a 2x4 and a hammer ... save yourself some moneys ... lol just a suggestion

Did the same thing about a month ago, I was able to gas it a little and get the front wheel over, but my rear nailed it and took a nasty bend and would slowly lose air. I don't know how the tire survived. I ended up getting quoted $100-160 to try and repair it. Went on ebay and found a straight rim for $80 shipped.

Don't know how much of a head ache you want but you could actually send papers and pics to the owner of the road be it a state/county/city road. They are responsible for any damage to your vehicle. Do to their negligence to repair the road.

My city refused to repair a pot hole near my house and time after time no way to avoid that damn thing and bam hit it hard one day and bent my car rim. Wanted to have it repaired or insurance and the insurance pointed me in the direction of making he claim against the city. Good thing that the insurer was a friend of mine. Saved me a 600 dollar bill as it destroyed the tire to. Took me about 3 weeks to get my money and the claim was relatively pain less once i got in the claim to the right department.

Very good info fellas, appreciate the help. Im going to ebay now and see what I can find.

Yes, I recall the guy was selling his Bike right away, not worth it to him. Trust me this flashed through my head as I was trying to un-weight the front end

Not sure where I could look for a rim straightener? Who would do this?

The bend is not bad but concerning nonetheless.

This happened last week and a lot of miles later. The start of summer. After scratching my quickly thinning hair, for the life of me I haven't a clue where it happened, some turnoff somewhere, lol. I couldnt even tell ya what County... Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey or Santa Cruz... One of em. lol.

Ebay looks like a lot of rims bent more than mine for around a sawbuck. Need to investigate repair options, any other ideas?
