if you were to buy an upper fairing, where would you get it? i want the least amount of trouble, and spend the least amount. i've found this one with good reviews on it, but its quite expensive...

Least trouble is stock, cheapest is ebay chinese crap. The link you posted isen't near exspensive if you've looked at oem replacements.

 

sharkskinz usually gets pretty good reviews for quality and fit so thats probably your best bet because it really isnt that much more than just buying a chinese nose fairing for like $160-170. If youre gonna get it painted anyway you can always try finding a used oem one in good condition on ebay or craigslist that you know will fit and will most likely be cheaper than that too.

I bought a cheap chinese one for my f4i and it really didnt fit well i had a gap on the left side along the edge for the headlight opening and the little ear pieces on the top where the mirrors mount too werent aligned with the fairing stay on the one side either.
