Buying first bike looking for experience advice

As the title states, I am looking at buying my first bike sometime this week. The bike is a 2002 F4i with 7400 miles going for $3600. For one is this a good deal? Cause I've seen 05' easily go for 4200-5000, I don't know if 7400 is alot of miles for a bike considering thats nothing for a motor in a car. Obviously a difference. What should I look for when I go see the bike obviously most owners dont let you test right espcially if it's never been down which is understandable but still. So any advice you veterns can lend me would be greatly appreciate. thanks!

7400 miles is not much for a 2002. Try to get a feel for what type of rider the owner is, could ride 'em real hard or just putt around on weekends. Looks like a good deal to me, but you don't give much information.

I agree but I gave what I was told "2002 Honda CBR600F4i with 7534 miles. It has a fender eliminator, integrated tail light, flush mount front blinkers, tank protector and a Scorpion Slip-on Exhaust. The bike runs great and is great for any experience bike rider. The tires may need replacing before next season, that is all it needs. Sale will include all stock parts including the exhaust." pretty much is it. They guy selling it is deployed at the moment so I can't even meet him. His wife is selling it for him

yeah thats a good deal. but you know if thats his asking price you can get it for lower. no one ever pays asking price for a bike. but yeah pick it up, just check if it was been downed befor

any riding experience? If not I say get a 250 ;)

That's a pretty good deal. Haha I don't think the wife knows what she's doing...poor guy.

^ Yep, I agree. But being as he's deployed, I wouldn't feel right about talking her down in price. They probably need the money, hence she's selling his bike. That's a great price as is.

Jump on it.
+1 That bike's gonna be sold before you have time to think about it.

That sounds like a good deal... I would get it.

I bought my 01 F4i with 12k, bone stock for $4,000. I paid too much tho since it was the beginning of the season and I REALLY wanted it, so I paid $200 over KBB.

Yea I figured it was a good deal that's why I can on here just to make sure of that. All my co workers are saying wait til oct/nov because prices will go down an I can get a new bike for about 4000-5000 but realistically I only want to spend 3000 for my first bike. A lot of people in the military ride. An I think its time a new toy. It'd be smart to wait probably but I'm also impatient. I'm thinking ill go check it. Out sumtme this week

Yeah, it's a good price. No need to beat up an active duty guy on price. Like you said, they can probably use the money and the difference isn't all that great.

The F4i is a fine beginner's bike. It's light and agile. Just be responsible with your right hand and you'll be fine.

Good luck with it.

I know about the concerns thank you though that was a good article to read during work. But they do make it hard for us to ride on base, pretty simple but stricted policy like helmet, gloves, reflective vest and registered on base are a must. I also just wanted to thank everyone for the solid advice I went ahead an bought the bike, pictures will be up soon! Thanks again everybody.

Sounds like a sweet deal. I got mine for 3.8k and, as it appeared, have to do a lot... But it's experience.
