buying chain + sprocket kit
Hey this is my first time buying a chain and sprocket kit and came across this for my f4i:
http://www.sprocketcenter.com/p/3149...onda-cbr-.html Seems like a fairly reasonable deal just wanted to see what your guys thought.. |
I am looking at chain + sprockets for my 03 f4i as well.
So far what i can find is: DID 525 gold chain: 126 shipped on ebay. Sprockets: still searching... mainly b/c i don't know which brand i should get. The one u found is about $200 taxed and shipped (im in CA), so for me, it's not a good deal. Im sure i can find sprockets for less than $74 dollars shipped and tax FREE!!! In addition, the sprocket's probably no brand product, which i personally feel is a bit sketchy. Do post if you find a better deal. Happy hunting!!! :icon_razz: |
Ya I'm in Canada as well and the shipping is $30.. Do most of the brand name chain companies also make sprockets?
|
I just did a chain and sprocket swap a few weeks ago. I have JT front and rear sprockets and a parts unlimited chain. Seems to be a great setup to me for the money. I think I spend less then 160 bucks on parts.

Anyone else? Should I worry about the sprockets not being a brand name?

Hi Nick,
I just installed that very model D.I.D. chain last night. D.I.D. chains are excellent quality. That chain retails for $137. Add in the cost of both front & rear sprockets at retail (w/ tax), & you've got well over that $176 listed for the kit you've linked to sprocketcenter. The sprocket(s) in that link *appear* to be Driven Racing sprockets... http://www.drivenracing.com/content....rear-sprockets . They are good sprockets as well. Give sprocketcenter a call & ask 'em if they are indeed Driven Racing. It looks like sprocketcenter even cuts the chain to the length you want/require. That's a nice little bonus. I'm used to cutting my own to the number of lengths I need. Not a big deal but its an extra step I have to do during the installation. So to finally answer your question... yes, it is a reasonable deal. :-) |

Contacted Sprocket Center regarding the sprockets in that kit. They were very professional, courteous, & willing to help w/ customer service. These are the kind of folks I like doing business with & I wouldn't hesitate buying from them.
Anyway, the sprockets in that kit are by *Drive Systems USA Inc*... http://www.drivesystemsusa.com/ . Drive Systems has a good reputation. Both Sprocket Center & Drive Systems fully back their products. Their companies are out of Costa Mesa & Huntington Beach CA. So, they share a close relationship working together. So there ya go. Hope this info helps. |
Awesome, thanks a lot for the help gotcbr I appreciate it. Gonna put in my order now!
