To buy or not to buy?

So i found on craigs a f4i that is about 3-4 hours away.

2003 honda cbr 600 f4i in good condition runs great 20xxx miles good rubber led blinkers asking 2500 for it firm

So it is a salvage title. Said the parts have all been fixed with aftermarket parts, which was all cosmetic. It has led blinkers, carbon fiber mirrors, and he wasnt sure what it had done internally, which was from a previous owner. I am guessing probably just a K&N or possibly sprockets. Says everything works good on it. I am thinking about going and checking it out and offering him 2200 for it. What do you guys think? Now that i have owned my 06 for a little over a year i kind of know what to look for/at when i go to check it out.
Thanks!

See if you can ride it first, if you can ride it and it rides good and doesn't make any sounds then I would go for it, looks like a nice bike. If it rides and runs good 2500 for that bike seems like a really good deal, and if he is asking 2500 firm I highly doubt he will come down to 2000 but hey you never know. I don't know how much you know about these bikes but the cam chain tensioners on them go bad, if the one on this bike is bad then I would talk him down.

ya i know the cct on my bike is going bad. i think i am going to go over tuesday and check it out, hopefully ride it, and if it is good buy it!

I am planning on going tomorrow! So hopefully it looks/runs good and isn't a waste of time!

Examine the bike very carefully (frame, sprockets, fluids, etc etc) and take it for a spin. What the visual won't tell you, the ride will. If everything seems/feels/sounds right, 2500 is a good deal. I would find something wrong (no original fairings, for one) and ask for 2300.

Thanks for the info yunebug. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. I asked about the paint and he told me that someone could have done a better job but it is still good...that's what he thought and said

Keep us updated. But 99% of the time, the reason for new paint is a drop. Question is, how bad was the drop? Take a good look at the stator cover, tranny cover, pegs, etc for signs of drop.

Ya I am sure it was a drop. I got a buddy coming with me to check it out also. So an extra set of eyes will help. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. I'll keep ya updated.
