ill make this short... when im coming to a stop if i hit small bumps in the road its like my handlebars vibrate or shake more than they use to... any ideas? my shocks arent blown i dont think, cause there was no leak... so maybe one of you mechanics can help me diagnose the problem

 

Loose headset bearings? Brace the front end off the ground and try to wiggle the bars back and forth and see if you can detect anything loose.

When i got my bike a few years back i had to tighten them as well. It was noticible when i was coming to a stop. Take off the top triple and there are two funky shaped nuts, one serves as a lock nut. There is a special tool to tighten them down but some channel lock pliers work just fine.

 

ahh well im a n00b so i have no idea how to take off the top triple tree ha ha. HELP? its starting to kinda scare me, especially approaching a sharp turn

 

You take off that black cap, flatten the tabs, and then you can turn the lock and tightening nut freely. If you have the service manual it's section 13-25
