Broken rear seat lock

I saw a thread a while back on removing a rear seat with a broken lock. I did a search but couldn't find anything. I tried to take the seat off earlier and when I turned the key I felt/and heard the lock cable come off. How can I get the seat off now.

Thanks for the help.

RE: Broken rear seat lock

Take the front seat off. You can look up under the rear seat. Take a LONG screw driver or and push the lock aside. I believe you push it to the right if you are looking under the seat at the lock. I had to do it to fix mine, Not hard.

RE: Broken rear seat lock

i was the one with the problem. I went ghetto, so if you're not getto don't read anymore. haha.

The rear seat has small holes on both sides of the bike. The front "corners" of the bike. Look inside. If you can see where the wire left the lock, there should be a big piece at the end of the wire where it normally hooks into the lock piece. Bend the wire hanger like a v so that you can wrap it around the wire and pin the metal piece. That way you can pull on the wire and unlock the back seat. it does help to put downward pressure on the rear seat while pulling so the rear seat doesn't put pressure on the rear lock. It took me a good twenty tries before i hooked right with the right pressure and just lifted the rear seat off with ease...... I now have a wire hanger permanetly installed in my bike! w00t. fee lock mod. haha. I'll post pix if you want.

RE: Broken rear seat lock

please do post pictures, currently I have the cable exiting the undertail where the lock is supposed to be(lock broke..cant find another with a key)
I dont keep anything in there, just a piece of aluminum to put under the kickstand when I park on asphalt on hot days.
