Brake rotor might be bent

Brake rotor might be bent
I recently bought my first CBR from an old buddy. It' an '01 and it had been laid down twice. I got a really good deal on it but knew it would need some work. The thing is that when I brake, I notice that the front brakes kinda stick- they feel like they grab at one point on the rotor. I thought I would neeed to get new rotors for the front, but, on a closer inspection, I noticed that the forks are leaking some fluid also. The rotors do notlook bent or kinked. Is it possible that the discs are fine and the pads need to be replaced due to fork oil absorbed into the pads? I read on another thread that oil wreaks havoc on the brake pads. Any light shed on the matter would help.

Any oil will pretty much trash the pads cuz they soak up the oil like a sponge. Since you know they need to be replaced, i would try that first (after fixing the leak, and cleaning the rotor) and see how they feel. If it was a warped rotor, you would get more of a shake out of it than a grabbing feel. Could be warped, but its not all that common. The rotors will hold up pretty well, even w/some abuse.

I had the same problem with my bike after I laid her over. I blew a fork seal and the oil destroyed my pads. New pads, and a fork rebuild are in order. OR if you really want to spend some $$$ go ahead and get all new Galfer wave rotors, stainless brake lines, and find some nice aftermarket calipers for it... Good luck and have fun.
